Theres a sensor on the differntial that you can replace very easily. Same thing happened to me, I was advised to replace this buy a Ford tech and it solved the problem.Saved me big $$$ . Check for ABS codes.
Also, if you've had the front brakes done, check that someone didn't unclip the ABS sensor wire from the brake hose and cause the sensor to be destroyed. Also note whether or not your speedometer works normally.
Check your ABS sensor
Could be several reasons but the most common would be a faulty wheel speed sensor or damaged wiring.
It is on because there is a problem with the Antilock Brake System (ABS).
Something is wrong with the ABS system.
The ABS light is on because there is a problem with the ABS system. The ABS light will remain on until it is fixed. The ABS system will not function as long as the ABS light remains on.
A problem has been detected with the Anti-lock Brake System It could be a fuse ( blown or in my case the fuse was not installed all the way ) a sensor , or some other problem
Bring to a shop that has an ABS scanner
A 1991 E 150 abs light will stay on when there is a problem with the abs system. Check the abs sensors at the wheels for a loose connection.
You could, but the ABS light will stay on.
You need to have the ABS system scanned with a computer to determine the reason for the light staying "on"
The ABS light might stay on because of a sensor issue. The braking system of most vehicles has several sensors that can cause the light to come on and stay on. This could also be a problem with brake pads or calipers.
The abs and brake lights stay on when there is a blown fuse or when the abs computer detects a malfunction and sets a code.
