I had this problem, there was very little air output from the heater even when on high. I tried a few mechanics for answers with no success. One day I was looking for something in the glove box and I found an access panel in the back of the glove box marked "filter access". I opened it and found there was a paper filter in a frame that filtered all the incoming air from the heater to the cabin, and it had never been changed. It was almost totally clogged up.
Replaced it ad bingo, lo0s of air. I asked my mechanic and he said "oh yeah, that thing, I forgot about that". It's not even mentioned in the owner's manual that I could see.
underneath the dashboard on the passenger side.
Could be low coolant, stuck thermostat, bad heater control head (if climate control)
get a new heater switch
Low coolant in the system. Defective heater control valve. Clogged heater core.
The heat valve is stuck open.
check your coolant level
The heater valve could be failing to open for one reason or another.
heater will not blow on a 1996 ford contour
if the heater does not blow out warm air change the setting.
I had this exact problem on my 2000 Montana. The neck of the thermostat housing has an air bleeder valve. Loosen this and let the air out until it runs mostly coolant and little or no air. There is an air lock situation preventing hot coolant from circulating properly. Hence, overheating and a starved heater core.
Is coolant up to level? Are heater control cables functioning to their full travel Thermostat may be defective and opening too soon. Heater maybe either "airbound" and need to be bled or may be plugged
Have it checked out. YYou may have controler problems. Try the blower motor More than likely, you have a bad heater core.
