The terms "Left" and "Right," which actually come from the floor plan of the British House of Commons, are often misleading. People can be "left" (liberal or progressive) about some things and "right" (conservative or reactionary) about others.
Extreme leftists tend to be not so much pro-Islamic as anti-Israel.
