As the atomic number increases, the number of protons in the nucleus increases or the effective nuclear charge of the nucleus increases. As a result the force exerted by the nucleus on the valence electrons is more or the size of the atom is small.

What accompanies an increase in atomic number within a specific period?

An increase in atomic number would be accompanied by a decrease in radius, and an increase in electronegativity.

What is the correlation of ionization energies to atomic radii for the elements?

In a group the ionization energy decrease when the atomic radius increase; in a period this relation is not generally valid.

Does elements on the periodic table decrease in atomic size when you move across a period from left to right and when you move down a group?

1. In a period is a trend of decrease from left to right but it is not absolute.2. In a group the atomic radius increase moving down.

Why the size of an atom does not decrease regularly in a period?

the size of atom doesn't decrease regularly due to the reason of lanthanide contraction .there is slightly increase or or almost no increase in atomic radius from 5th to 6th period in transition metal .

Why does the electronegativity increase as the atomic number increases?

The number of electrons increases with the atomic number. So the electronegativity increases with the atomic number. Not quite. Electronegativity doesn't consistently increase with atomic number. For example, F is more electronegative than Na, even though Na has a higher atomic number.

Does the atomic radius decrease as you move up a group and across a period from left to right on the periodic table?

the atomic radius decreses from left to right in periodic table due to increase in the number of succesive element the electrons of the outermost shell are more attracted towards nucleus and the atomic radius or atomic size decreases.

If a frequency of a wave increases what will happen?

Increase decrease. The frequency MUST decrease.

Does the period of revolution increase or decrease?

Depends

In general the atomic radius of an atom as you move down a column in the periodic table?

Decreases. Look at the images under atomic radius, on wikipedia.

Why does atomic size increase from left to right across a period?

atomic size decreases across a period
