see what else is on the circuit... unplug everything but the door lock relay/lock motors...and keep checking by elimination until you find the short...:) find a wiring diagram if needed... everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional manual available...in the reference section, you'll have to make copies of the important sections...good luck :)
The 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee power door lock fuse can be found in the fuse box. The fuse will be in the first column, third from the bottom.
In the fuse box
The fuse panel is on the passenger side of the dash on the side. When you open the door you will see a cover plate, it is under that.
in the fuse panel next to the passenger door pull out fuse 6 and 7 By pulling fuse 6 the vehicle will not start.
On the right side of the panel, you need to open the right front door to see the fuses panel little door.

The fuse block in in the engine compartment under a cover, the fuse panel is located in a panel you access when you open the passenger side door.
Open the front passenger side door; it is on the side of the dash.
it could be the bulb,switch(located in door post near hinges)or fuse.
Passenger side near the door hinge on the dash housing.
This is most likely caused by a blown fuse in the Cherokee. Check the fuses one by one in the fuse box to find the blown one.
open the passengers door and look at the side of the dash board that closes against the door you will see a litte door that says fuses on it.
