DO NOT put the nozzle in full depth, an inch short of full insertion should be sufficient.

You could have a problem with the fuel vent system. It could also be the anti spill roll over valve is stuck. If it continues and causes you problems it should be taken to a shop to be looked at.

Make sure there is no leaks anywhere then, slowly place the nozzle into your pants and let it run for a while. You should be all done.

When you hear/feel the click of the nozzle shutting off, wait a few more seconds for the last of the petrol to run out, then slowly pull the nozzle out and turn the machine off. Never try to fill the tank up to the brim as the tank needs some expansion room when the petrol warms up, especially on a hot day. The filler neck is part of the room it needs. It could leak out the cap. Don't forget to put the cap back on the car before you go to pay or leave. Be extremely careful if you haven't used a particular pump before as some filler nozzles may not have a working automatic handle shutoff. Always stand to the side and if the petrol starts gushing out of the filler neck just release the handle and stand back.

The answer is very simple and it goes back to a basic law of physics.We all know that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, right? So with regards to a fire hose, as the water discharges from the nozzle, there is force pushing back called nozzle reaction. The narrowed nozzle is forcing the speed of the water to accelerate.The higher the pressure, the higher the nozzle reaction, for a given nozzle diameter. Some of the reaction is dissipated in the friction of the hose on the ground, but a lot of it results in a force pushing the nozzle back toward the firefighters.In short, the amount of force necessary to accelerate that water through the nozzle is about the same as the force pushing the nozzle in the opposite direction from the discharge.For example, if you were to pump 357 gallons per minute at 60 pounds per square inch, through a nozzle orifice of 1 1/2 inches, you would have nozzle reaction of approximately 205 pounds. That means the firefighters would have to push BACK with that amount of force to hold the nozzle in position. If the same amount of water were pumped at the same pressure through a tip with 1 3/4-inch diameter, the force would be closer to 270 pounds. Chances are you have contaminated the charcoal cannister by overfilling fuel tank. New cannister, I am told is about $180. Pull gas nozzle part way out of filler neck and fill slowly. This might work.
