If you were to go up into the John Hancock building in Chicago and went in the restroom on the upper floors look in the toilets and you will see the water moving. For a structure to stand there does need to be a rigid structure but built in the structure a small degree of flexibility. There needs to be a little give to absorb some of the energy or it will snap. Look in nature and you will see trees that have the ability to flex with the force of the winds. The key again is the internal structure, foundation and a degree of flexibility.
