It needs maintenance you can disconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery and reconnect it to clear any erros in the ECU
No, the "Check Engine" light will only come on if there is a problem with the emissions system. Do not confuse this light with the "Maintenance Required" light which does come on at a set mileage to alert you that maintenance needs to be performed.
Maintenance required is not triggered by any kind of problem. It's pre-programmed to go off when you drive 5k miles. It's just a reminder that you need to maintain your car. Service required is triggered by malfunction.
"Maintenance Required" lights are triggered by milage. The lights come on around 15,000 , 30,000 , and 90,000 miles. At these intervels rutine mant. is preformed, consisting of checking and or replacing of o2 sensors, checking T.P.S. sensors. After 90,000 the maintenance required light is to be disconnected, by unpluging the bulb sgi
turn off the ignition. hold in the odometer reset button and turn on the ignition to on (Not start). Keep holding the button in for about 8 seconds and the millage will come back on. Light should be out.
You can't reset that light...there is no such thing as a 2002 Honda Element...they didn't come out until 2003.
It requires service: Either it needs to go in for oil change and similar normal maintenance or there is something gone wrong.
Disconnect the battery for about 2-3 minutes. But if you have problems with your engine the light will come again on after some time.
NO! The check engine light has nothing to do with oil changes. It monitors the condition of the emissions system. Now, some vehicles have another light call "Maintenance Required". This light does indeed indicate an oil change or some other maintenance is required. Read you owner's manual. All of this is explained there.
No. There is a problem
Mine always came on when it was due for an oil change. I have a 1999 ex v6 coupe with the 3.0 liter motor. I assume the maintenance light would come on at regular intervals regardless of the motor, however.
its not a light, reset with your key
Resetting the maintenance required light: Step 1 - Turn on engine. Set odometer to "Trip A" by pushing the odometer button until Trip A comes up. Step 2 - Turn off engine. Step 3 - Hold in odometer button while turning on engine. Step 4 - Keep holding odometer button until light goes off completely. Note: I've also had the tire pressure light come on. That one will reset itself after you drive away provided your tires are properly inflated.
