It is necessary to disconnect the battery to safely install a starter. When the battery is disconnected the radio loses its presets due to no power going to it.

i have a 94 camry and i need the code to unlock the radio

Your 1994 Toyota Camry radio is equipped with two fuses. There will be an in-line fuse behind the radio. There will also be a radio fuse in the fuse box.
Weak battery? Loose or corroded battery cable?

you can't do that
The radio that is installed in the car.
When the battery is removed, all power to the car is lost and the radio resets itself. Usually it prompts for a code, when the power is reconnected. This should be supplied with purchase of new vehicle, but not necessairly and can be a problem when purchasing second hand vehicles as the original buyer doesn't always provide it with docs. Problem is that to get the code reset if you don't have it, more often then not involves a fee of some kind by the Manufacturer/Dealer.
if your battery was removed and your radio is asking for code then you must contact your Toyota dealer. there was a code installed from factory that they may be able to help with. also when you get it fixed read your owners manual on how to change the radio code to one you will remember.
