Most likely there is a ground fault in the bulb socket or bad spot in the wiring harness. You can clean the socket out and then put in fresh bulbs and see if that helps. Also I have had faults in trailer plugs causing this problem. Inspect your trailer outlet if you have one. Look for broken parts cracks nicks in the wiring etc....I once had a piece of foil looking stuff get into a trailers plug and cause this type of havoc. If neither of the above do the trick, start at the taillights and work your way forward checking the harness for damage. Doesn't take a lot, just a nick in the insulation can cause a fault. This is tedious and time consuming but the only way to find it is hunt it down.

On my 99 neon sometimes indicator lights stay on steady sometimes flash the way they should Why?

When this happens, wiggle the turn signal stalk. If this fixes the problem, you need a new turn signal switch. Sometimes when you hit the brakes, the lights will come on. This is an indication of a bad switch.

Do both the inner and outer bulbs on a 2000 Chevy Malibu come on when the brakes are applied or just the outer bulb?

No they don't. Usually only one filament burns for the turn signal and the same one is used for the brake lights. These are just interupted when using the TS since you have two lights for the rear brakes this still give an indication of stopping and signalling. Hope this helps Phil

Why do all the signal lights flash plus the middle brake light when you give a turn signal on a 2002 Chevy Silverado.?

You may have a bulb that that brunt a element which than crossed the other element cause all lights to come on a one time. I have seen this before. If this does not light all bulbs when the brakes are applied, then I would be looking in the front lights, if it does I would look in the back lights.

What indicator on a Mercedes-Benz has a bulb with exclamation mark?

Just had the same question and found the answer... According to my manual for a Mercedes-Benz 560SL 1986 It is the Exterior light failure indicator lamp. "The light failure indicator comes on with the key in steering lock posion2 and will go out when the engine starts. If it comes on with the engine running, it indicates a a light failure. If an exterior light fails, the indicator will come on only when that light is switched on. If a brake or turn signal lights fails, the light failure indicator will come on when applying the brake or actuating the turn signal and stay on until the engine is turned off. CAUTION! If additional lighting equiment is installed (auxiliary headlamps ect.) to avoid damage to the failure indicator system, be certain to connect into the fuse before the failure indicator monitor unit.

On a 91 Camry should the brake lights come on as tail lights when you turn on lights or remain out until brakes are applied even if lights are turned on?

In the back should be tail lights which always come on when the headlights or parking lights are on, and stoplights which come on whenever the brakes are pressed. The stoplights should be brighter than the tail lights, but they should be separate.

Is there a way to flash your taillights without braking and using hazard lights?

If you just barely touch the brake pedal the brake lights will come on but the brakes will for all intent and purpose not be applied.
