This happens because it clears the Line, Reboots the lan connection and give you a good IP address.
It's not that it makes the Internet respond, it makes your DSL modem respond. Occasionally DSL and Cable modems will become unresponsive for whatever reason. Disconnecting and reconnting the Internet connection cable is one way to "wake up" the modem. Often that doesn't work and you have to reboot the computer or power-cycle the modem. Annoying but sometimes necessary. The way my ISP, who gave me my DSL modem to use, explained it is that, like a computer, every now and then, the modem just needs to be reset or rebooted, much like your computer
If you are using Wifi your router may not be built for gaming. If its plugged directly into the modem it may be a error from unplugging from the Internet to many times. and if its a direct to the router connection try resetting the modem removing the battery then reset the router.
Without the modem you can not connect to the internet.
Yes a modem and an ISP (Internet Service Provider) are required for an internet connection. Depending on the type of internet the ISP will issue you a modem.
One who want to connect to the internet.
To connect to the internet you need to first buy an internet connection. You must then plug your internet cable into a modem. Finally you must have connection to the modem from your PC, most computers will automatically connect to the internet if the hardware is in place.
Make sure the modem is plugged into the phone jack
You can connect your laptop to the Internet with a cable modem, sure. You will need an Ethernet cable to do that. If you want wireless internet, you will need a cable modem, and a wireless router as well.
A modem is important you fuzzbag
'No modem present' generally means an error with the connection to the internet. The Modem is the middle component between the router and the internet, it recieves data from a jack that allows internet access, which is passed through the modem to the router so that wireless enabled devices can access internet. A computer can connect directly to the modem in order to gain internet access and a router is optional not compulsory.. Without a modem, you cannot recieve internet access. All internet service requires some sort of modem. Whether it is at one's own home or in a public place such as a Starbucks there must be a modem for there to be internet.
Yes and No. They can but it would be pointless because you can always change your IP-Address by reconnecting your Internet Connection (unplug your Internet-Modem). And your IP-Address would probably be assigned to someone else after some time, so it doesn't make sense to ban IP-Addresses.
