The VSC (Variable Skid Control) function is automatically activated by the onboard computer of the vehicle. When the light is on - the system is activated. If the light remains on it means that the onboard computer senses that you are constantly driving on slippery road conditions and the computer senses a skid may be likely - or - that it has failed to deactivate for some reason.
There is no way (I know of) of manually deactivateng the anti-skid system. You may want to contact your mechanic or Toyota dealer.
If the light comes on and stays on even in non-slippery conditions it is signalling that a problem/fault has been discovered in the system by the onboard diagnostic computer (OBD). Have it checked ASAP as this important safety function may not be operating.
How does vsc light turn off on 2005 highlander?
On the 08 highlander make sure that your ODO display is on trip A then turn off your key, hold down the trip reset button and with your other hand turn the car to on. the display will flash to a series of either 0's or dashes, they will then countdown to nothing. When the display goes blank the reminder is reset. Since it is reset now do not rely on it for a monitor since it will come on 5k after being reset.
That info can be found in the owners manual.
Any fault that affects emissions will turn the light on. You need to have it checked for codes to know possible causes.Any fault that affects emissions will turn the light on. You need to have it checked for codes to know possible causes.
It's telling you to change the oil.
Yes, the only way to turn it off is to engage the manual shift on the auto stick.
With the car key on ACC, put your odometer on the mileage setting (not 'trip') then turn the key off - then, while holding down the button that switches from odo and trip, turn the key back on to ACC - you will notice the maintenance light blink and then go out. The vehicle computer automatically resets the mileage interval until it goes on again.
Read the owners manual. It has step-by-step instructions.
Turn key on. Set odometer to odo not trip a or b. Turn key off. Press and hold trip setter. With trip setter still held turn key on, continue to hold trip setter for 5 seconds. Reset Main req light after an oil change. **Nope, doesn't work, just tried it on 09 highlander.

You have to repair the part that caused the light to come on.
