It is very easy to do this. The only thing you must remember is that you cannot install windows 98 from Windows XP environment. Either install 98 first and then XP or after installing XP reboot in DOS mode. The install will ask for the drive to install to when you do so?
If you have an XP pro CD you can simply enter the BIOS and set the computer to boot from CD. Then put the CD in and when you reboot it will begin setup and format the drive and install Xp as part of the process.

Before you format xp you will need to go onto Linux and create a grub boot disk by typing grub-install /dev/fd0. This will create a floppy disk which you can use to start Linux after you have removed and reinstalled xp. Insert the windows XP Disc into the CD Drive, and reboot the computer. Boot from the CD. Then follow the instructions.
