1. Disconnect brake light switch (under dash, at brake pedal arm) -- this will eliminate "miss-wirings". 2. Pull Fuse #7 at fuse block -- this will disable the A/C Compressor motor. If problem solved, test/replace: a. A/C Select Relay in Relay Control Panel (behind glove box) b. A/C Hi-Pressure Cutout Switch, c. A/C Cycling switch, Replace Fuse #7. (These switches control the Compressor Clutch which should be de-energized during Wide-Open-Throttle, Engine-not-running, Power Steering load is excessive, coolant temperature exceeds 237 degrees F, OR A/C not requested.) 3. Pull Fuse #5 at the fuse block and remove the A/C Cutout Relay (engine compartment, at firewall). This will keep the A/C Compressor Clutch from engaging. Replace Fuse #5. 4. Dump your engine codes. Key Off Jumper two "left-most on the "forward row" of pins on ODB-1 connector block (just above main heater outlet at transmission hump) -- toward the left front tire. Key to RUN (not START). Count the codes at the 'Service Engine Light'. Code '12' is OK -- just acknowledging communications with the ECM. Record any other codes. 5. Dump Diagnostic codes. Engine OFF. Jumper out. Key OFF. Key ON (not START). Insert jumper at "left-most on the "forward row". Read and record codes.
