On a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the alternator is located on the front of the engine, typically mounted near the top on the driver's side. It is driven by a belt connected to the crankshaft. To access it, you may need to remove the belt and possibly other components, depending on the specific engine configuration.
Yes, a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with a 3.3L V6 engine needs a functioning alternator to start. The alternator charges the battery while the engine is running, but if the battery is fully charged, the car can start without the alternator working. However, once the engine is running, it will rely on the alternator for electrical power and to keep the battery charged. If the alternator fails while driving, the vehicle may eventually lose power and stall.
it's the idle control valve, $60 part, or the computer.
