Sounds like a problem in the fuel system. Fuel is finding it's way into the cylinders after the ignition is switched off.

Does the engine run on as normal, or run erratically after you switch the engine off?

The former could be an electrical problem (something not switching off properly). The second could mean that fuel is building up in the system somewhere and discharging into the engine when the power is switched off.

Q: Why does your 1998 Peugeot diesel DJ5 TED not stop sometimes when you turn off. You have to stall it. I am told it does not have a stop solenoid. Peugeot dealers do not know.?
