It means that you are supposed to change your oil soon. Eventually it will come on until you reset it. If you are still confused look in your owners manual.
It is a reminder to do preventative maintenance. It comes on after a required number of mules. Does not mean that there is a problem wirh the vehicle. You can use a key to push in the slots to reset to green.
To give you the required instructions to reset the maintenance interval the chassi number is required.
The indicator is there to remind the driver when a certain number of miles has been reached, 7,500 in most cases. When no maintenance is required, the indicator will be green. If maintenance is needed, the indicator will turn red.
Turn the ignition key on,off,on,off then on and count the the flashes of the check engine symbol .It flashes the first number then there is a short pause then it flashes the second number. Example 24 ( two flashes and a pause then four flashes). Look up this number in Chilton's/Haynes or the shop manual for the vehicle
Turn on the switch, and hold the override switch. Count the number of flashes for the first number of fault, then wait for a pause in the flash, then count the number of flashes for the second digit in the fault. Count the number of flashes until it cycles back around. Examples of codes would be 2 yellow or red flashes, then a pause, then 5 yellow or red flashes then a pause would be a code 25
60 - 120 flashes per minute.
This is going to be a lot easier in a four-door car. Look under the driver's seat from the back side and you'll find a box with a wire harness coming out of it. On it there's a door; open the door and you'll see a red LED inside. Put the key in the ignition, turn to the "run" (don't crank it!) position and notice the LED on the box flashes a number of times, stops for two seconds and flashes again. Go through several cycles because if you have several things wrong it will tell you about all of them, in sequence. Write down the number of times it flashes and shut off your car. Then google "3rd generation Accord trouble codes" and you'll learn how to decipher the flashes.

Locate the 2 pin diagnostic connector behind the glovebox door. (Not the 16 pin OBD connector which is on the driver side). Hook a jumper wire from one terminal to the other. Turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine. Count the number of flashes the D4 light makes, looking for both long and short flashes. Respond with the number, and I'll post the diagnosis. (there are more than 40 possible codes, too many to list here)
Depending on the year! The stock radio on my 1990 accord required a 4 digit code in order to program. Just obtain the serial number on the bottom of the radio and take it to your nearest Honda dealer and they'll give you the code that's required! A much easier way is to go to the link I will post and sign up at Honda Owner Link. With the VIN number you can get the code for free if it is the OEM radio and you do not have to remove the radio to get the serial number.
Move the drivers seat forward all the way. look under it from in the rear and you will see a piece of plastic there is a little window that you need to pop out count the number of times that the light flashes and they equal the trouble code.
