. The sensor is located behind your disk brakes on both the driver and passenger front wheels ...when you start your car the computer doesn't sense a problem so the light stays off ...basically what the ABS sensor does is monitors your speed while driving if you slam on you brakes the ABS judges your speed and releases the brakes slightly to keep you from locking your tires up and skidding to a stop when you apply the brakes the computer then tries to get a reading and can't so it trips the light ...this sensor can be replace but keep in mind its not a small part it, its a part of the knuckle your brakes and tire slide onto..probably about $70-$140 part if I remember correctly and that's if you do the labor yourself
