The sensor is located behind your disk brakes on both the driver and passenger front wheels ...when you start your car the computer doesn't sense a problem so the light stays off ...basically what the ABS sensor does is monitors your speed while driving if you slam on you brakes the ABS judges your speed and releases the brakes slightly to keep you from locking your tires up and skidding to a stop when you apply the brakes the computer then tries to get a reading and can't so it trips the light ...this sensor can be replace but keep in mind its not a small part it, its a part of the knuckle your brakes and tire slide onto..probably about $70-$140 part if I remember correctly and that's if you do the labor yourself

To disable the seat belt alarm on a Chevy Colorado, locate the alarm fuse. Pull out the fuse to disable the alarm.
The easiest way to disable the 1998 Chevy Lumina factory alarm is to remove the factory alarm fuse. The factory alarm fuse can be found in the fuse box.
take negative off batt. and wait 30 secs. it will restart comp.

take it to a Chevy place

Take the remote control and insert it in the slot under the steering coulmn . Wait for the alarm sound (deactivates the alarm) and then start the car. The alarm is now deactivated. You need to reactivate the alarm in the same way to have the alarm functional again.
On my 99 Suburban, the alarm activates when you press the lock button on the remote twice.
