I had the same thing happen to my 04 Endeavor. I was told its the Propeller Shaft. There is a service bulletin out on that part. Hope this helps.
if it sounds like it comes from the front it is probably a wheel bearing.i had the same problem
The 2001 Mitsubishi Montero OBD 2 port is under driver side dash above accelerator
the G note is above the F note. but triple high G has 3 lines below it and it's a squeal not a sound

On my Lancer 2006, it's above the oil filter...

The oil sensor switch of 1997 Mitsubishi pajero is right above the oil filter - screwed into the base of the oil filter unit.
Bunnies don't make sounds! When aggressive the will grunt, and if hurt, a rabbit will make a high pitch squeal, any other time, it is as the above answer say's.

The end of this stick has a twist in it, above that there is a notch cut out of the stick, and then about an inch above that is another notch, you want your oil level between the notches
There should be 3 air bag sensors in the front. One:Behind the bumper or about six inches above it(passenger side). Two:Below the Mitsubishi "3 Diamond" Logo(inside the grill, in front of the radiator). Three:Behind the bumper or about six inches above it(driver side)
The 2001 Mitsubishi signal flasher relay switch is located beneath the drivers side dashboard. The signal flasher relay switch will be above the accelerator pedal.
