Sounds like you have your firing order mixed up maybe...1-3-2 COUNTER-Clockwise. Double check the spark plug wires. Number one tower on distributor is the uppermost tower. Number one cylinder is closest to the passenger's side fender.
If it's a 4 cylinder it's 1-3-4-2 CCW
