its the pitmin arm or track bar i have seen it over an over again
It is possible that the shaking in a Pontiac Montana at 45 MPH is the result of failing bearings or tie rod ends.
problem with your transmission in 5th gear
Tires and/or wheels out of balance?
its not spossed too...you may need to balance your tires
Wheels are probably out of balance or you may have a bad tire.
I would say your tires are out of balance or one has separated. If you feel it more in the steering wheel its a front tire. If its more in the drivers seat its a rear tire. That is the most common problem. Matt Demick
I have a 1999 jeep cherokee, and had this same problem. After time, when i would hit a bump in the road my whole car would seize up and buck uncontrollably. It ended up needing two new wheel barrings. They were not easy to replace!!
The most likely cause is that one or both front wheels need to be computer balanced. Most tire shops have this capability. This should be done at the earliest convenience to prevent needless wear and tear.
I should have said that the car seems to sputter at those speeds rather than shake so I don't think it's a tire problem which most people tend to think of.
Tires/wheels out of balance? Frozen brake caliper? Bent wheel?
A shake that is that speed sensitive is usually a bent rim, or bad tire.
My restless lab nobby can run at 45 mph she chases after the jeep when we go to our farm and back.
