Have you thought the alternator may be bad? Sounds like an electrical short. Check ground wires throughout the car
If the battery light comes on when you try to start your car, either your battery is low or your alternator is going bad. These can be checked by going to an Advance Auto or Auto Zone, they will test it for you for free.
b/c the battery is dead. b/c the battery is dead.
Sounds like it's time for a new battery. Or at the very least, to get the present battery tested.
disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for 15 seconds. put the terminal back on the go turn the key on but do not start wait 15 seconds with key on then start if the light does not go out do it again it took mine 2 tries then it when out
Try an auto parts store, sometimes they will check your alternator and battery for free.
1. Make sure your battery posts and connectors are clean. Free of acid & oxidation. If that doesn't work then.....- 2. Check for a draw on the battery ( something staying on like a trunk light). A good test is to buy a test light. Then disconnect your negative on the battery and put the test light in series. If the light comes on go to the fuse box and start pulling fuses until the light goes out. Then you know where the problem is. Johnny
If alternator and battery test fine- then you may have a bad fusable link not allowing the alternator to charge the battery
If an indicator light comes on, it usually means there is a problem and you should have it checked out as soon as possible. However, in the even that the light was triggered by other work, there is a hard reset you can use to turn the indicator light off. Disconnect both the positive and negative battery cables from the battery. Once both are disconnected, hold the positive and negative leads together for 10 seconds. Pull them apart and wait 5 seconds before reconnecting the battery. Put the key in the ignition and turn halfway. Wait about 15 seconds, and then turn all the way to start the car. This should hard reset the computer functions, and if the indicator light was a fluke, the reset will clear it.
you can't really reset a battery.... to reset the sensors and the panel, open the fuse panel by the drivers door and hold the red reset button for about 10 15 seconds. It should make the same ding sound as when an indicator light comes on
Check engine light? Remove the battery ground terminal for a few seconds. If you still have the problem, the light will probably come back on. I have never had that light come on except on start up which is normal.
The abs light comes on at start up for a few seconds to do a bulb check. If it stays on or comes on while driving and stays on the computer has detected a malfunction and set a code.
I would assume this is a Stratus, and that the battery had been disconnected during water pump replacement. 1. Disconnect the battery again for 30 seconds. 2. Reconnect battery. 3. Turn key to "run" position, (not start), for 5 seconds. 4. Start car. 5.. Idle relearn should be complete.
