Because that's how long it takes to fill the bags.
On the other hand, if there is a leak, the compressor will only run continuously for 90 seconds before shutting off to keep it from burning out. Then you'll get a "Check Air Ride" warning on the console.

I ordered a new valve but never installed it because it turned out that mine was just stuck. Once I freed it, it has worked fine since.
