Everything goes bad over a period of time. you did not say whats wrong
with it. Be sure you replace it with a FACTORY GM CAP FROM DEALER.

Yes! If you have a suspicion that it is bad, just replace it. Very cheap repair. The distributor cap may also need replacing. Look for cracks and arching.
