if the motor was run hot there are several things that could have happened.first it could of cracked or warpped a head. second it could have a spun bearing. that seases up after it gets hot .

Start by checking to see if the cooling fans are coming on when it starts getting hot. If they are then you should start by checking: thermostat, temp switch & head gasket.

that's probably a sensor that shuts the engine off to protect from damages of overheating. it happens in some newer type cars.

your thermostat could be wearing out. what happens then is that it wont open until the engine gets abnormally hot, then as the coolant flows through the engine, it gets cooler, and so it closes, then once it gets real hot again, it opens. so on and so forth. steinbacher682@hotmail.com
