He knows that his own has already gone through his system and that his body cannot obtain any more nutrients from it. That may not be the case with that of others, as their systems work differently and have different microbes in their digestive track.

chinese dog poo and milk
if you mean poo then no they never do. would you eat your own poo? hopefully not. cats hate their own poo if anything. cats (and kittens) wont stop trying to cover up their own poo until they cant smell it. so im sure they wont EAT it.
Its quite normal for dogs to eat poo. They eat others' poo if they want to hide the scent (from dangerous predators) but they can also eat their own poo. People don't fully understand why they do this. It may be because there are undigested foods that could still be useful. If you want to discourage your dog, try and catch them when they eat it. Make a loud noise like shaking a bottle with stones in it. They will associate this loud, bad noise with eating poo, and do it less and less. You can also spray something not nice on the poo, like pepper, or citrus. Alternatively, just pick up and dispose of the poo as soon as possible and you will avoid this problem.
Yes, but it is not recommended to do...
