This car may need the battery in the system to complete all circuits. Are you trying to test your alternator?
Disconnect the battery for a few minutes
disconnect the negative battery terminal for 10 minutes.

the fastest way is to disconnect the battery ground wire at the battery for about 10 seconds
No you do not it is in the front of the motor on the bottom just make sure you disconnect your battery
Disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes, then reconnect. The CHECK ENGINE light should disappear if everything is okay.
Disconnect the battery negative, disconnect the battery positive, unbolt any brackets which are holding the battery in place (look to the bottom of the battery for these), pull the battery out, installation is the opposite of removal.
The battery is under the floor of the trunk on the right side. You can't disconnect it under the hood.

You can disconnect the neg. battery cable but you also reset everything radio, clock etc.
Disconnect the cables at the 1997 Nissan battery. After following one cable to the other end, disconnect it then pull it out. Feed the new cable in the same way. Connect the non battery end. Do the same for the other cable then connect the cables to the battery.
