its the pinion gear usually happens when the Axel assembly . is low on fluid, or from hi mileage usage, ether replace the Axel assembly .the Axel bearings get hot and start whining. thanks

Hey ya i have a 1994 grand am and i was having this same problem. What i did what replace the spark plugs. After i did this i took the car and and when i floor it no longer stutters when accelerating.
When heat is supplied the intermolecular/interparticulate force decreases and the particles gain in Kinetic energy and start moving randomly. Since, the force between molecules decreases, the intermolecular spaces increase and particles start pressing against the wall of the container in order to escape out.
