as far as i know, when the oxygen in the water gets used up or fouled, the fish come up toward the surface to get water that has more oxygen in it... it is an indication that the water should be changed.
Goldfish may be kept in an uheated fresh-water aquarium. They are considered ill-suited to live in a heated tropical fish tank, as they are used to the greater amount of oxygen in unheated tanks.
an aquarium or a fish tank
Keeping the water clean in your goldfish aquarium will not only make your fish more likely to spawn but will also greatly improve the health of your fish and any potential fry, so yes you should keep your goldfish's water clean for them to spawn.

If you arent going to do regular maintenance, keep it to 5 or less godlfish.
If you want to acclimate your goldfish into a new tank, do it slowly so the goldfish don't get stressed.set up your goldfish tank or pond in advance.Let the water cycle and establish beneficial bacteria that will help regulate the nitrogen cycle and help deal with the ammonia produced by a goldfish.Add a dechlorinator that will eliminate chlorine and chloramine. If you fill your tank with tap water, it will have one or both of these in the water. Don't bother buying fancy dechlorinators, just buy one that eliminates both.Float the bag filled with air and the goldfish into your aquarium water.Let the bag float for 30min until the water temperature inside the bag matches the water in the aquarium. Goldfish can die if there are rapid changes in water temperatures.Open the bag, let the water mix and slowly let the goldfish swim into its new home.Depending on the size of your tank, don't add more than a few goldfish at a time or your tanks ammonia levels might spike and kill all the goldfish in your tank. A cycled tank will help keep this from happening.
You would use a aquarium chiller to cool the water in your aquarium for certain types of fish that need cooler water then room temperature. It helps to keep the water at a constant temperature.
Tropical fish are normally kept in a heated aquarium. Goldfish (and similar species) are usually kept in a coldwater aquarium, or in a goldfish bowl. Where fish are reared commercially for eating: salmon, trout, etc. they are kept in floating fish hatcheries that are usually found in Scottish sea-lochs.
Use a filter and try not to give it too much food. Sometimes it won't eat all the food and the water will cloud up faster from the dissolved food. also it depends on the tank if its big one you could buy one of those suker fish to clean it for you they wont kill your fish and you never have to feed them
Goldfish are a coldwater fish. They thrive in cooler water. So there is no need for a heater in most cases. First you must start with dechlorinated water. Some aquarium salt. Simple goldfish food. Goldfish like vegataion some freshwater plants couldn't hurt. Goldfish are very simple and easy to keep. Just don't overfeed. It all depends on the size of you aqaurium, bowl, or pond.
Yes, like all animals, goldfish need oxygen. They get it through their gills from the water they swim in .Air should be provided to an aquarium via a small pump. This helps to remove gasses from the water that might build up and provides oxygen that will dissolve into the water. It also helps keep the tank clean.yes they do
