The service engine light came on because the OBD (on board diagnostics) system detects something is wrong. The OBD system has set codes. You need to have the codes read to determine what to do next. Many auto parts stores will read the codes from your vehicle for zip if you purchase the parts necessary to make repairs from them. It may be as simple as a tune up.
The #1 cause of cold air from the heater when the car is stopped, or the engine is idling, low engine coolant levels.
Sonds like the idling speed is too low - it can be adjusted (Usually with just a screw driver) if you know the right screw to turn to give the engine higher idling revs.
Dieseling Engine overheating? Engine idling too high? Try a higher octane fuel?
check your timing and motor mounts and make sure all cylinders are igniting when needed these will most likely be the answer to your problems!
This is very normal. The extra drag on the engine caused by the alternator and the a/c causes the engine to slow. The engine speed is most likely then compensated by the e.c.u to a pre-set value, thus causing the revs to rise.
The idle can be adjusted at the throttle body via the two adjustment jam nuts on the cable. Be careful not to pull this to tight as the engine will over rev when on cold starts. Im not aware of a council service that starts with X.
If you have fixed the problem, it will likely reset itself after about 20 engine starts. Also, the local oil change/inspection station may do it for free. It takes a diagnostic reader to do it.
When a car, such as a Hyundai accent, has and broken idle control valve the engine may or may not start. Idling is controlled by this part and the car a malfunctioning unit can cause the car to act erratically, such as starting at random times and stalling.
I have a 2000 VW Beetle 2.0 and it was the engine speed or crank sensor. The symptom was, I would be driving or idling and the engine would quit. I used my OBD scan tool and it showed the code and the sensor was replaced. The part cost was $125.
With the engine at operating temperature remove the valve covers. With the engine idling back off on the rocker arm nut until the rocker starts tapping. Tighten the rocker arm slowly until the noise stops. Then tighten it 3/4 of a turn more. Do each one the same and reinstall the valve covers.
The oil pressure is zero when the engine is not running. The oil pressure sensor will read the low pressure for a second, when the engine first starts.
