Why does your sims 2 on PC always crash once you install custom content?

it means what you downloaded wasn't packaged right, or has other problems and is causing your game to crash, the only solution is to delete the custom content that is causing the crash.

Has anyone lose files on sims2 because of custom content?
After you have downloaded more than your computer has room for, the custom content will start deleting parts of your game to fit the content. IT CAUSES YOUR COMPUTER TO CRASH!!! I would know, it happened to me. :(

that is very, very bad news, especially if you have a lot of custom content. if it's crashing your game it means you downloaded a bad file, it could be corrupt or missing elements and it can cause your game to crash. what you need to do is either take out all of your custom content or do this: i've had this problem before too, and this is what I had to do. I created a folder on my desktop, it doesn't need to be named anything special. then I would move 100 files or so from my sims 2 downloads file and put them into this newly created folder. then I would run my game and if it still crashed then I would add another 100. eventually, you will find the file(s) that's causing the crash and you can then delete them and return all the files back into your downloads folder. it's a long and painful process

I don't know, but I have the same problem. Small deco objects are fine, but anything like a chair or lamp will send the graphics crazy, then crash. Hair, makeup, and some clothes are fine though. Seems strange since I install them the same way, and there doesn't seem to be a difference between .sims3pack or .package files.
