Why doesn't the drivers door on a 1999 blazer lock with the power button or remote?

If the door is open. or any door is open. All doors will lock but the drivers door. I guess so you don't leave keys in. That's how it works on my 99.

Why did the power lock button quit working but still works with the remote to lock and unlock your 2000 blazer?
It might be that something has gone wrong with the physical power lock button in the car - the remote will continue to operate the power lock in that case. (Also, please accept my condolences, as a former Blazer owner, for having to be involved with a Blazer.)
