Why doesnt your 2001 s-10 4x4 go into 4 wheel drive when selected?

there could be at least 3 different things wrong 1. Break in the vacuum lines. 2. Encoder motor on the side of transfer case is faulty. 3. tccm or transfer case control module is faulty. 4. the acuator on the front is no good. to know better you will have to explain the problem a little more. do your 4x4 lights switch to 4 hi and 4 lo but the front wheels are not engaging? easy to figure out put in 4 lo and your vehicle will rev and not go very fast if so then your encoder motor is fine and so is the tccm. would be problems 1 and 4 then. hope this helps.
