Because the ignition system consists of a lot more parts than just the coil. check the distributor and plug wires. make sure the coil is hooked up right. if you changed the coil, and it didn't fix it, the coil probably wasn't the problem.

Get an inline spark checker. (Harbor Frieght for a couple bucks) Put this between the spark plug and wire and check the spark. If it is a bright sprk light then it is oky.
