It all comes down to endorphins... Drugs release endorphins, early on in our drug-using days. The amount that gets released, slowly diminishes over time; that's why addicts must continuously use more and more of the substance, to get the same "high". Sugar also releases endorphins, but our tolerance doesn't quickly build, like it does with the drugs.
