An epic is traditionally a typeof poetry, in modern terms, epic is often extended to other art forms, such as in theatre, flims and music, novels and plays, Television and Video games wherein the story has a theme of grandeur and heroism.

Thus, epics are published to this very day, and are still popular, you only have to know what kind of epic you are looking for to find it.
