When fluid begins to change color, it usually means that the anti-corrosion additives are breaking down, and it is time for the system to be drained and re-filled. Contrary to popular thinking, brake fluid does wear out, especially in vehicles that haul heavy loads or are used for a lot of stop-and-go travel. Since that is the purpose of yous E-350, it is time to do some maintenance.
This is an easy one... Is the fluid green? if it is, it's coolant.. if not, its brake fluid.
brake fluid
PAG oil for the air conditioning system.
Not a complete answer, but check the brake fluid level. My brake light came on and stayed on last year. Turned out the brake fluid was low. Light turned off after I added some and has been fine since. I had the same problem-took it to Mazda and lo and behold the brake fluid cap was actually recalled for not sealing correctly!!!!!????? No notifiaction of it to us whatsoever but once replaced it was fine. Maybe this is this case for you?
On my 03 Chevy Silverado I just added brake fluid and the message turned off.
It uses brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir. The clutch fluid (brake fluid) is fed by the brake fluid reservoir. The clutch fluid reservoir is just beneath the brake fluid reservoir. So, add fluid to the brake fluid reservoir to fill the clutch fluid, also.
Yes. Normal brake fluid is actually synthetic
Assuming you mean the color, not the ecological green, normal brake fluid for most US and Japanese cars is clear when new. Over time in the braking system, it can turn greenish and then red or brown as it ages. This is assuming it was not dyed at the factory. It is possible to purchase dyed brake fluid (ATE Super Blue) for performance/racing applications where the fluid is changed frequently. The idea is that each time you flush the fluid, you use a different color so that you see a change to the new color when all of the old fluid is out.
It is important to maintain the brake fluid levels in a car. The brake fluid type for a 2002 Grand AM is DOT 3 brake fluid.
To add brake fluid to a 2006 Jetta, you will have to take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir. Fill to the appropriate level with DOT 3 brake fluid and screw the cap back on.
Only brake fluid can be used for brake fluid. Brake fluid is a glycol-based liquid - it's closer to antifreeze than to oil, but don't use antifreeze in it either. Only brake fluid.
The brake system uses brake fluid and the trans uses trans fluid.
