Why hasn't my TIP Supervisor assigned my new task yet?

Be patient!

The TIP Leader and Supervisors are amongst some of the busiest Supervisors on WikiAnswers.

They may be busy doing things for another program, they may be fighting off a vandal attack, publishing newsletters, helping another contributor, mentoring a new Supervisor and so on.

Or, maybe they're taking a well deserved break from the community, especially over weekends.

Be patient and do other things around the site while waiting. They will get to you eventually.

Being impatient can potentially put the Community Assistants off of inviting you to the Supervisor team.

If you are waiting more than three days, feel free to leave a polite nudge on the message board of your TIP Supervisor.

Sometimes due to site lag, your messages may not show up, in this case, feel free to send an email to the Supervisor. Their WikiAnswers email address should be on their profiles.

What should I do if another supervisor tells me to stop doing something that I need to do to complete my TIP mission?

Inform the Supervisor that what you are doing is for your task in TIP and ask why they stopped you. And please inform your TIP Supervisor. They will be able to look deeper to see if the Supervisor was correct to stop you from performing your task. If the Supervisor was correct to stop you, your TIP Supervisor will explain why and offer you guidance. If the Supervisor was not correct to stop you, your TIP Supervisor will encourage you to continue with the task and inform the Supervisor they were wrong to interrupt you.

If an alternate I split for my TIP task is trashed by a Supervisor do I still get credit for the split?

Yes, you do.If you become a Supervisor, you will be able to trash questions and alternates yourself anyway. We kindly ask all TIP members to report any bad alternates that violate the guidelines to a TIP Supervisor or the program leader. The TIP staff are:Zapallar: Program Leader & Community AssistantXnicola: Senior Supervisor & MentorSkullcandy88: Supervisor & Mentor

What should I do if I come across a bad or vandal question during my TIP task?

During your TIP task, if you come across a question that is inappropriate or one that you believe should not be on the site, please send a message or email to a TIP Supervisor so they can deal with it. You could of course notify any Supervisor, but the TIP Supervisors are the only ones who can access the TIP database where we store notes like "brilliant at detecting bad questions".

Can I request my personal TIP supervisor to be my Mentor when I am promoted to Supervisor?

Yes! It is perfectly acceptable to request that your TIP supervisor be your mentor when you are promoted to supervisor. You should try and ask your TIP supervisor as soon as possible after graduating from TIP so that they are aware of your request in time.

A TIP Supervisor told me to re-do the task but I disagree - what should I do?

Firstly, it is important to remember that your TIP supervisor will only ask you to redo the task if you have failed to complete it correctly according to the task requirements that we gave you.It is essential that you complete the task to these requirements to show your ability to follow instructions and rules. Similarly, following the requirements shows that you are willing and able to follow the procedures that all supervisors are required to follow.Taking shortcuts to complete your task more quickly isn't tolerated. If you believe that you did complete your task to the set requirements but you were still asked to re-do it then you can ask the program coordinator for a second opinion. It is best to try and resolve the issue with your supervisor first though.Remember that your supervisor is trying to help you not hinder you!

Does The Initiates Program on Answers.com have an email address?

Yes, The Initiates Program (TIP) on Answers.com does have an email. The email address is TIP@WikiAnswers.com.You are welcome to send TIP an email. Whether that be a request to join, to recommend someone for the program, ask TIP a question and so on.If you are a Supervisor, you can use the email to make recommendations to us.If you have completed your TIP task, it would be better to contact a TIP Supervisor via their message board.

Will it count against me if I fail a mission in The Initiates Program?

Every mission or task you complete in The Initiates Program is checked very carefully by a TIP supervisor. Remember that they are looking for a supervisor standard to your contributions, not a contributor standard. That means absolutely no cutting corners and making sure you read every single line of the messages and guides the TIP supervisors send you. Your progress through each task is recorded in a database by the TIP supervisor who checks your mission and is accessible to the TIP staff and the Answers management. Notes about your strengths and weaknesses are added as are notes about your successes and missions you fail. Should you fail a mission in TIP, it will be noted in the database. Every action you perform whilst in TIP counts whether you get the supervisor badge at the end of it or not. That includes missions and social interactions with other users. In serious cases, yes, a mission failure could affect the management's decision to allow you onto the supervisor team. However a quick, successful re-try of that failed mission can help you get back in their good books. In extremely serious cases such as cyberbullying, your membership to TIP will be terminated without question. Remember that the TIP supervisors exist to help you become a supervisor on Answers, they do not exist to slow you down or hinder your progress . They want you to succeed and put a lot of time into trying to help you earn that badge, especially behind the scenes. In return they expect TIP members to be respectful and complete missions properly. If you failed a mission in TIP, you can very easily get back on track by restarting that mission as requested by your TIP supervisor, performing the task as you should.

How do I get a personal TIP Supervisor?

By default your personal TIP Supervisor when you join the program is the TIP Supervisor who invited you. However you may be reassigned to either of the other TIP Supervisors at any time during your TIP membership. If you want to personally request to be Supervised by a particular TIP Supervisor (Xnicola or Skullcandy88), please let us know. When one of the TIP Supervisors is unavailable for some time, the other will temporarily step in.

Will I fail my TIP task if I do not use minor edit?

If you do not use minor edit where you are required to do so, for example when you edit an answer to correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, style and so on, you can fail your TIP mission. The TIP Supervisor will give you a notice of why the mission was failed and you will be asked to re-do it. Meanwhile all the edits where you should have used minor edit will be reverted by the Supervisor. It is paramount that you complete missions accurately. If you mistakenly forget to tick minor edit, simply let a TIP Supervisor know and they can sort that out for you.

Who should I talk to if I have a question about my TIP mission?

You should talk to your personal TIP supervisor about any questions that you have. Alternatively you can talk to another TIP supervisor or the program coordinator Zapallar.

Do you HAVE to join The Initiates Program to become a Supervisor?

No, not necessarily. You can join the Special Project Assistants and also become a Supervisor later. TIP generally takes less time than SPA, but TIP may be slightly stricter with how tasks are completed. In TIP you will also get a personal TIP Supervisor to help guide you.

I have come across an offensive question or answer or alternate during my TIP task - what should I do?

We advise you to report the offensive or rule-breaking alternate/question/answer. You can report it to your TIP Supervisor via their message board or click 'flag' on the left toolbar. Or if the question has an answer, you can click the red 'Report Abuse' link below it. Reporting bad content can show your TIP Supervisors that you recognise the difference between good and bad on WikiAnswers, which will further aid your potential promotion to Supervisor. As a Supervisor, you can deal with the bad content yourself.
