haemoglobin contains Fe as central atom. Fe forms coordinate bond with O2 molecule and carry to the cells. Inside cell it diffuses into mitochondria where it is used to oxidation of alcohol into CO2 and H2O. The CO2 is ultimately enter into blood and carry to lungs via heart where it is exchanged for oxygen.
