Why in America it seems like girls are more favored then boys when in most countries boys are the most favored?

It is a difference in the cultures of different parts of the world starting long ago. In many other countries, boys are most favored because boys are stronger than girls and can work harder to help support the family. In America, girls benefit from the Anglo-Saxon tradition of chivalry and the protection of women.

∙ 11y agoThe main reason is "bride price" or dowry that parents have to pay to the grooms family. When a girl marries in many societies the family pays to the groom a dowry/ bride price. In some cultures it can be land, position, or money. In others it can be something like cows or goats. Because the family looses things to the grooms family girls are seen as less than boys.
