Because ANZAC Day was the first time that troops from the Australian Colonies went in action as Australians!
They commemorate different events which occurred on different days. ANZAC Day is on the anniversary of the landing of these troops on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Armistice Day is the anniversary of the day upon which war was declared at end in WWI. Thought at the time as being the war to end all wars.
A lot more of the Turkish Army than was supposed to be there, and they held the high ground.
That's not a question, that's a statement :|
An armistice is more than a cease-fire, its like a temporary treaty. It ends hostilities (longer than a cease-fire). Its supposed to be the prelude to a treaty. It doesn't last very long so its a temporary measure.
ANZAC is written when one refers to the Australian & New Zealand Army Corps. Anzac (lower-case) may be used when referring to a member of the ANZAC, or to the cove or the land above the cove (which became known as Anzac).
ANZAC Day is commemorated, not celebrated, on 25 April every year. It is a solemn occasion marked with respect, not a celebration.
The ANZAC soldiers landed in the wrong place at Gallipoli due to a combination of poor reconnaissance and miscommunication. The original plan called for a landing at the intended beaches, but the fog and darkness led to navigational errors. Additionally, the Turkish defenders had fortified the actual landing sites, making the chosen area at Anzac Cove more vulnerable than anticipated. These factors contributed to the confusion and difficulties faced by the ANZAC forces during the campaign.
The ANZACs were more of an affirmation of typical New Zealand ideals - do the job as well as you can, because nobody else is - rather than an alteration.
It is more important to be giving than to receive.
As an element of the planet, fire is more important than cars.
Neither of them is more important than the other. They are equally important.
no trying is more important
