Berlin is so important to Germany because it is its capital and a major city. It is popular in Germany and houses many important things. Berlin was the capital before Hitler and communism. The capital was then moved to Bonn in the time of Communism. When communism ended, Berlin was restored as Germany's capital.

∙ 12y agoBerlin is one of the largest cities in Europe and one of the major hub of European commerce and industry as well as culture. It is now the capital, once again, the reunified Germany. Over the last 25 years, Berlin has completely transformed itself into one of the most vibrant cities in the world. Berlin has become a mecca for many diverse cultures around the world. Its progressive tradition and reputation have made Berlin what it is today. What makes this city so special is what it has suffered unlike any other city in the world. By the end of the war in May 1945, over 90% of the city was destroyed by allied bombing and heavy fighting by the Red Army and what was left of the German army. It suffered throughout the Cold War because of the division and the erection of the wall in Aug 1961. There was so much sacrifice made by Berliners to somehow begin the long road of rebuilding and to rebuild their lives as well.
Berlin was always hostile to the Nazis and the Communists until reunification in 1989. It is remarkable the transformation that's taken place in Berlin over the years.
