Well In my opinion I have tried to gather some of the reasons that why DNA strands run in antiparallel directions. The following reasons are as follows :

1) It is antiparallel in order to match the charges and for bettter conformational

configuration.

2) It is due to the way DNA and RNA polymerase work.

3) The two strands of DNA have opposite chemical polarity which means that their sugar-phosphate backbones run in opposite directions. The direction is specified by referring to the carbons of the ribose ring in the sugar-phosphate backbone of DNA. 5' specifies the 5th carbon in the ribose ring, counting clockwise from the oxygen molecule, and 3' specifies the 3rd carbon in the ring. Direction of, and in reference to, DNA molecules is then specified relative to these carbons. For example, transcription, the act of transcribing DNA to RNA for eventual expression, always occurs in the 5' to 3' direction. Nucleic acid polymerization cannot occur in the opposite direction, 3' to 5', because of the difference in chemical properties between the 5' methyl group and the 3' ring-carbon with an attached hydroxyl group. anti parallel

DNA strands are anti parallel -explain?

DNA strand are anti parallel because they have complementary base pair and each two strand coiled to 5'_3' and other strand is 3'_5'.

dna binding protein binds the 2 anti parallel strands of dna together

Why does DNA replication have to be in an anti-parallel direction?

DNA polymerase III can only work in the 5' to 3' direction.

What is a word that describes that the strands of DNA run in opposite directions?

Anti-parallel

What does antiparallel mean?

Anti-parallel means the sides of the DNA double helix.

What is the anti parallel DNA strand of 5'-C-C-A-T-C-T-T-G-3'?

DNA ends 3 to 5, 5 to 3 polarity. opposite ends of DNA synthesis 3 OH, 5 PO DNA always have antiparallel configuration

What is anti parallel?

when it is not parallel parrallel is when it is two straight lines: like train tracks anti parallel is when it is going of course: like a trapezium

DNA molecule antiparallel Why?

The DNA molecule is anti-parallel. This is because the two strands are the opposite of one another, such that if one strand has the base sequence ATC, the opposite strand would have the base sequence TAG.

What direction must two chains of DNA run?

The two chains of a piece of DNA must run in opposite directions (anti-parallel). One chain runs 5' to 3', and the other runs 3' to 5'.
