1) Because God commanded us to study the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:7 and 11:19). 2) Because without study it is impossible to know the Torah and keep its laws and beliefs. 3) Because without knowledge of the Torah, Judaism would atrophy (as happened among the Sadducees and other non-traditional groups).

Judaism believes strongly in marriage and having children (Genesis ch.1, ch.2 and ch.9); and in educating the children in the ways of the Torah (Deuteronomy ch.11). 3) The relationship with community. One of the reasons for public prayer is so that each Jew should be part of a community, not a loner.
