The reason for ENGLAND being so overpopulated is the language English and the fact that when foreigners are choosing a second language to learn, very often they will choose the international language English.

Incidentally the term "UK" includes Scotland and Wales. Both these countries are very mountainous and sparsely populated hence by including them in the equation statisticians can fiddle the population density numbers.

The Immigration controls at UK borders are very lax compared with those in the USA and it is a fact that the UK government does not actually know how many people are living here! Allegedly the supermarkets reckon that the UK population must be at least 10 millions more than government figures judging from the amount of product consumed. (the government claims that there must be a lot of waste!)

Another immigration problem is the fact that citizens of other European countries that are European Union Member States have a right to come here and work.

In practice the result of "free movement" has been the influx of "East Europeans" who are thought to be responsible for most of the thefts of metal from the UK infrastructure. Soft sentencing means that even if they are caught the punishment is often just a fine which they never pay. Nowadays their MO is thought to be exporting shipping containers filled with stolen copper as in this way UK scrap-yard controls are bypassed.
