A language can be limited to no barriers of regions and religions. It belongs to one who learns it and loves it the most. Language and ideas pulsate in a single unison. The absence one is the death of another. None can deny the importance of English language in any part of the world in general and India in particular. We are not confined to the small corners of the world at the moment but stand exposed to world at large and need to fulfill the conditions demanded by the cosmopolitan temperament. It is absolutely futile to be a victim of lingual frenzy and keep on clinging only to Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi or there may be hundred and one other languages. My objective is not at all to discourage the promotion of national or even regional languages so much so that even small dialects should have due encouragement but at the same the over-growing importance of English language can not be underestimated at any cost. We should keep our eyes and ears open and try to make out the place and status of English language in the modern perspective. Ignorance of English will ultimately lead you to the darkness of isolation and social estrangement. It has been the order of the day to learn it.111drugstore com zithromax htm

The fact can not be denied that language is medium of expression and hence Ideas, not language, is important and it happens to be the general perception of the speaking world now-a-days. I, too, agree with it but with a difference that all the languages are the media of expression but English language stands accepted by the largest chunk of the significantly speaking world especially the developing and under-developed nations of the canon prograf 5000

world in addition to the big powers like USA. It is discarded that the British Imperialism has done great harm to our resources and to the culture and civilization of our country and our nation has received such an indelibly traumatic experience of their obnoxious presence on our sacred soil that we, despite trying countless times, can not forget them. But here a point is very important to be made clear that a language and literature does not have any caste, color, creed or religion. It is always beyond these demarcations. Language, literature or all kinds of knowledge ever belong to a one who loves them. Secondly this universal truth can never be bypassed that if the Bruisers have damaged our in many ways, they have made some laudable scientific and technological contribution to our nation- the English language being one of greatest gifts of Lord Macaulay to the Indians. This language proved to be so important to make our survival dignified and secure that even MK Gandhi, A staunchest nationalist, could perhaps help making a strong recommendation for the inception of English language as a medium of instruction at Wardha in Maharashtra while putting forward 'Wardha Scheme of Education' in 1937 under the Chairmanship of Dr. Zakir Hussain-the Founder of Jamia Milia University, Delhi and the former first citizen of India. Even the big powers like China and Russia have also experimented on the position sans this language and realized its inevitable importance so much so that they have set themselves on fast track of learning English language now. In most of Asian countries this language is seen as an indispensable source of international survival and a link between different nations. It is primarily because most the world literatures including all kinds of sciences have been rendered in English. If we observe minutely observe, we shall be surprised to know find that even among puritan Madarsas and Pathshalas the urgent need to teach this language is being felt and in most of the purely Indianised institutions English language happens to be the quintessence of the content-course there in vogue. I have come across the Hindu, Muslim and various other preachers getting across their message to the world at large through this medium. Hence to reject it as a language of the colonisers is nothing but the parochial approach. Especially the spoken part of English is very important to be strengthened in view of its widespread usage in discourses and discussions. Its indispensable role in our trans-national survival has to be understood. There is a long-standing conflict between northern and southern parts of India on the point of language which I out-rightly discard as a futile scuffling on the ground that a language nothing to do with any kind of discrimination at all. It belongs none but it belongs to all. It is not genuine to reject it as a language of the British Imperialism. We have thrown the Britishers out of India but we should never make a vain attempt to throw away the baby with the bath-tub. The beautiful ideas are always subordinate to the beautiful language. Sans good language, the expression of ideas can not be impressive and able arrest the attention of the listeners. This language has attained such a forceful impact on the common psyche of our society that our thousand and one shortcomings can be veiled up very easily provided you speak fluent English. Writing of this language is also of great significance but here you can afford to think, Waite and spend time on drafting a small composition more than it normally requires. In all walks of life, English language enables you to make your existence perceptible. You can impress and command the highest degree of respect from your students, your colleagues, and many of your friends also provided you have an art of speaking good English. You can run the administration efficiently, you can keep your subordinates in the fold of power successfully and you can leave a productive influence on your social circles on the strength of attractive English speaking. I would like to impress upon most of my colleagues who are suffering this English speaking handicap that they should try their level best to improve this part of their profession otherwise they will simply cut a sorry figure in the system they are living in. I strongly believe that maximum problem in our oriental society can be sorted out by speaking fluent English and remaining can be tackled with the help of sophisticated writing skills. Fickle minded are the people who suffer from the lingual constipation and have very poor digestion for the foreign languages. They are actually faced with an intellectual and attitudinal hollowness and morbid imagination or better said about them is that they are xenophobia in approach. The teachers without handsome grip over English language are sure to dislike and clumsy mpression among his students and no good space among his colleagues and counterparts. I have come across many teachers who are deplorable in English speaking domain. But the worse part of it is that they do not have even an iota of realization being so brazen faced fellows in the system. English language has assumed the position of a 'Status Symbol' in our society and its desideratum can nowise be challenged. A good hold over 'English speaking' should be an unavoidable qualification for all the non-oriental and Indian classical language teachers at school level and all the teachers at the College and University level. Obstinate adherence, sometimes, to their one particular language or, at time, to the dialects at the cost of a prestigious language always proves to suicidal and speaks of one's parochial outlook and mercurial bent of mind and nothing else. Hence the best formula to remain in touch with day-to-day goings on in the world of knowledge explosion, to keep pace with the changing phases of social existence and live an accepted life is to know English, read English and speak English with due promotion of your interest and aptitude.
