The biggest benefit of a wireless network is just that, it's wireless. Combine it with a laptop, then you are wireless and mobile. At home, you can sit in any room and work on your laptop you're not confined to the one area of the house where the computer is sitting on the desk you can go anywhere. Then look at places like Starbucks, they offer wireless networking for free, so you can bring your laptop over, get a cup of your favorite brew and answer questions on Wiki. :)...Also, have you been to an airport terminal lately? When you open your own business and become rich you're going to need your laptop at the airport to keep up with your business up until the minute you get on the airplane. The list goes on and on. On the technical side there is no benefit from a wireless to a wired, in fact, a wireless is less secure than a wired, so it's just for the freedom factor.
