The author of "The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge" is Carlos Castaneda. The book is a series of writings based on Castaneda's experiences with a Yaqui Indian named Don Juan Matus.
The most famous Don Juan was a totally fictional character, who has become the byword for a womanizer used in many books, plays and movies, so he does not have a real father. In some of all these books and plays a 'father' may be mentioned, but the character does not have a really established lineage.
Don Juan's mother is traditionally named Donna Inez in literature, and she is portrayed as a strict, moralistic figure who disapproves of her son's libertine lifestyle. She is often depicted as a foil to Don Juan's hedonistic tendencies, embodying more virtuous and conservative values.

Written in 1844, the play is a classic! It's theme is that love conquers all, even the most EVIL of hearts. Don Juan, as a character, is rich and spoiled, exploiting women and murdering men. He betrays a friend through a bet, by seducing his fiancé and seducing and innocent young girl who is about to become a nun. The second girl, wins his heart with her purity. When her father hears of her lost innocence at the hands of Don Juan, he seeks him out. Don Juan begs forgiveness and asks that he allows him to dedicate his life to serving the father and his daughter. The father rejects him and Don Juan kills him. He escapes Seville. Five years later, Don Juan returns to find out that the young girl died of a broken heart. He goes to the cemetary and meets her ghost, who has suffered in purgatory, begging God to save Don Juan's soul. Does Don Juan go to heaven with her? Does he get pulled to hell by her father?
