Israel has fought with Lebanon on several occasions including: Israel's entrée into the Lebanese Civil War in 1982, the Occupation of South Lebanon from 1982-2000, or the recent Israeli-Hezbollah War in 2006. All three stem from different causes. The primary ones for each are listed below.
1) The Lebanese Civil War had a number of causes separate to Israel and Israel only entered the War midway through. The causes of the Lebanese Civil War included, but were not limited to:
Israel entered the Lebanese Civil War on account of the following two reasons:
2) The Occupation of Southern Lebanon was a result of the Lebanese Civil War. Israeli troops were already in Lebanon and just retreated to positions south of the Litani River, but north of the Israeli-Lebanese border. Hezbollah and other paramilitary groups harassed the Israeli occupying force, leading to minor skirmishes in the area. In 2000, as a sign of restraint, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak withdrew the Israelis to the 1980 borders to the satisfaction of the United Nations, but not to Hezbollah which considers parts of the Israeli-occupied Golan to be Lebanese territory.
3) The Israeli-Hezbollah War began from Hezbollah's gross misinterpretation of how strongly Israel would respond to its illicit activities. The War had a number of causes that included, but were not limited to:
Generally speaking, the State of Israel has an uneasy relationship with its neighbors because the latter have consistently voiced their intent to remove the state from the map.

What are the causes of the Arab-Israeli Conflict?
What is the Arab-Israeli conflict about?
Israel is portrayed as an evil country by some of the media, by many U.N. and E.U. statements, and by much of the Arab and Muslim world. This despite the fact that Israel has better human-rights than any other country in the region (click on the blue text for details).
Israel has been boycotted for decades, and its citizens have suffered from the conflict, yet it continues to be optimistic and it enjoys God's protection.
The presence of the Jews in Israel is questioned by some, despite the Jews' history in and from Israel, and despite God's clear words bestowing Israel to them. Words which are recognized by Islam as well.
Those who condemn Israel for its side in the conflict, fail to condemn the actions of Israel's enemies, no matter how heinous.

Israel and Gaza are not currently at war however, recently they were and it was because Israel was retaliating on account of persistent rocket attacks coming from the Gaza Strip.

The Arab-Israeli Conflict exists for a vast number of reasons. Please see the Related Question below for more information.

Because Israel still exists, and the Jews, by and large,
refuse to either march into the sea or lie down.
The obsession of Israeli neighbors with the idea of destroying Israel.
believed Israel was created on lands belonging to Palestinians.
Zionism is one of many contributing factors that led to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. The reason for this is that Zionism is the nationalistic philosophy that led to Israel's creation. Without Zionism, there would be no Israel and therefore the conflict would not have existed. However, without Arab Nationalism, universal Anti-Semitism, and inequality between Jews and Muslims in Arab countries, there would never have been a reason for conflict either.

The major reason for this conflict was that arab countries wanted to destroy Israel -and go on wanting it until now. They´ve changed the methods- but not the goals
Often Arabs try to link these conflicts to show that Western Imperialist powers are the reason that they cannot succeed. Of course, this fails to take into account that Israel is not an imperialist power. (It has no foreign colonies.) This also fails to take into account the very different motivations behind the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and the Iraq War.
The question is peculiarly constructed. Where Israel "is the enemy" of another country, the reason is that the people or power structure of that country have decided that Israel is their enemy. And the reason for THAT, at least in the case of Israel's 'neighbors', is that they have never come to peace with the concept of a Jewish country in their neighborhood, and have set their mind to eliminating it.
