It isn't. Paris is the "City of Light."
Paris is the famed "City of Lights".
1. Paris is the capital of France 2.paris is the city of light
Paris, France is known as the City of Light. This nickname dates back to the 19th century due to the city's early adoption of street lighting. Paris also became associated with intellectual and artistic enlightenment during this time, further contributing to its nickname.
PAris, France
They don't. "The City of Light" is a nickname for Paris. Other cities are nicknamed, "The City of Light" (such as Aurora, Illinois, so nicknamed because it was one of the first US cities to have all-electric streetlights) but New York isn't one of them. And Paris is the city that is most commonly known as "The City of Light."
Paris was nicknamed the "City of Light" (not City of Lights) originally because it was a vast center of education and ideas during the Age of Enlightenment. In 1828, Paris began lighting the Champs-Elysées with gas lamps. It was the first city in Europe to do so, and so earned the nickname "La Ville-Lumière" or The City of Light.
Paris is a city for what i have been told.
the city is Paris,France :)
I would say both. But if you had to pick one, it would be love. New York, America is the city of lights.
Paris is a city - it does not have another city as its capital. Paris also happens to be the capital city of France, which is a country.
(I am rephrasing your question as "Who ordered that Paris, France (known as 'the city of light'), be burned?". Hopefully this is what you are looking for, feel free to clarify on the discussion page if not.) During the late stages of World War II, in 1944, Hitler famously ordered that Paris be burned as the Germans withdrew. His generals disobeyed this order, and Paris was spared. This is depicted in the 1966 movie "Is Paris Burning?"
